The Greatness of 17th Century

Hello everyone! As it is my personal journel ,I would like to start the blog with a flow of slides based on our respective Professor Eftekhar Sir lectures.Right now,I want to give the idea of 17 th century( Renaissance period) in a short form which is given below:

17th century also known as Renaissance period or Elizabethan period where England had remained less agressive both in literature and language ;but soon raised to the top level by the late mediaval works of Chaucer and other authors.

Queen Elizabeth1

Elizabeth1 (1558-1603) used her power to challenge the Spanish Armada in 1588,as well as her rival Philip 2 to keep the status of England. In this era, France, the Netherlands and other countries are engaged in religious war but Elizabeth bring the end of war ,although France is under Valois and Boubon monarchise where English power didn't approach. This era witnessed many poets and playwrights like Christopher Marlowe, William Shakespeare,Thomas Kyd,Edmund Spenser,Ben Jonson and so on.

King James1

After the death of Elizabeth in 1603 ,James1,the king of Scotland, ruled over the England (1603- 1625).The peace of Elizabeth's later years, brought to an end.Political and religious climate worsen .Soon angry debates over rights, parliament and the crown occured.English Puritans applied thousand of application to reform THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND; but the king James1 didn't agree the terms and that made the alienation worsen between King and Puritans.Gun Powder plot also one of victims which was mastermined by the Catholics to blow up the Houses Of Parliament in 1605.Furthermore,James 1 and successor Charles1 both of them collect taxes without following any govermental rules. This lead to English Civil War in 1640s and execution of Charles 1 took place in 1649.This era witnessed the bloody war and took great achivement.

James Version( Holy Bible)

Also notable that the Struat era accepted the new translation of the Bible named as 'Authorized Version' in 1611 which named before as 'James Version'.This made a change in literature of 17th and 18th century.About 54 translator were asked to serve on six different translation teams, two centered in London and another two each at the Cambridge and Oxford University. In 1568,"Bishop Bible" an edition of the book that had been first printed for England's church. The other two translator were belong to Miles Coverdale and William Tyndale. The acceptence of 'Authorized Version' helped England to became a colonial power and to gave English language a highest place.Puritans had supported the idea of English bible even though it not have pleased all the quarters of Church.

Anglicans

Through the 17th century,Anglicans created the steady flow of religious and devotional literature that aimed to inspire "HOLINESS".Less like Puritans but similar with Christians, this group of people follow the life of Christian style like the cycle of sin, forgiveness, death and ressurection in ways that stirred the faithful to repentance and such on.William Laud( 1573-1645) the persecutor of Puritans said that the "holiness" earned for Anglicanism an enduring image of intolerance in the era of Charles1. Jeremy Taylor ,Henry Vaughan and Thomas Traherne were respective figure of Anglicanism. The other poet such as John Donne and George Herbert were also defended the Anglican settlement.Overall we come to know that 17th century took a great step to change the language and literature in England.

Thanks for reading this far.Hopefully, stay tuned for next update!!
